1. (1) You must meet the following strength requirements:

   1. (a) Suspended scaffolds must support, without failure, the total of their own weight plus four times the maximum intended load;
   2. (b) Suspended scaffold components must meet the requirements contained in Table 4, Suspended Scaffold Strength Requirements.

2. (2) Surfaces that support scaffold support devices must withstand four times the rated load of the hoist.

   Note:

   Scaffold support devices include outrigger beams, cornice hooks, parapet clamps, and similar devices.

   Suspended Scaffold Strength Requirements

   These scaffold components:	Must meet these strength requirements:
   Adjustable scaffoldSuspension ropes, including connecting hardware	Support six times the rated load of the hoist.
   Adjustable scaffoldDirect connections to roofs and floorsCounterweights used to balance the scaffold	Resist four times the tipping moment with the scaffold operating at the rated load of the hoist.
   Nonadjustable scaffoldSuspension ropes, including connecting hardware	Support six times the maximum intended load applied or transmitted to the rope.
   All other scaffold components	Support its own weight plus four times the maximum intended load.
