You must make sure employees follow procedures in your emergency response plan to:

1. (1) Recognize when an emergency response must be initiated;
2. (2) Notify employees, and others designated in your plan, of the release;
3. (3) Follow immediate emergency procedures; and
4. (4) Prevent the incident from increasing in severity or to secure the operation.
