1. (1) You must examine equipment which could become contaminated with blood or other potentially infectious materials (OPIM) before servicing or shipping.

   1. (a) Decontaminate this equipment and its parts as necessary unless you can demonstrate that decontamination isn't feasible.

   2. (b) Attach an easily seen biohazard label to the equipment stating which portions remain contaminated.

2. (2) You must make sure that information on contaminated equipment is communicated to all affected employees, the servicing representative, and the manufacturer as appropriate, prior to handling, servicing, or shipping so that appropriate precautions will be taken.
