1. (1) At logging worksites, each employee, including supervisors, must hold a valid certificate of first-aid and CPR training. New employees not holding a valid certificate of training must be trained within six months of being hired and they must be working on a crew where at least one person holding a valid certificate of first-aid and CPR training is present at all times.

   EXCEPTION:

   Log truck drivers are not required to receive first-aid and CPR training if they are not involved with falling, yarding, loading, or processing logs.

2. (2) At road construction and maintenance worksites, whenever two or more employees are present, a person or persons holding a valid certificate of first-aid and CPR training must be present at all times.
3. (3) At least two persons holding a valid certificate of first-aid training must be present or available at all times in sorting yard operations.

4. (4) First-aid and CPR training must cover at least the following:

   1. (a) The definition of first aid.
   2. (b) Legal issues of applying first aid (Good Samaritan Laws).
   3. (c) Basic anatomy.

   4. (d) Patient assessment and first aid for the following:

      1. (i) Respiratory arrest.
      2. (ii) Cardiac arrest.
      3. (iii) Hemorrhage.
      4. (iv) Lacerations/abrasions.
      5. (v) Amputations.
      6. (vi) Musculoskeletal injuries.
      7. (vii) Shock.
      8. (viii) Eye injuries.
      9. (ix) Burns.
      10. (x) Loss of consciousness.
      11. (xi) Extreme temperature exposure (hypothermia/hyperthermia).
      12. (xii) Paralysis.
      13. (xiii) Poisoning.
      14. (xiv) Artificial ventilation.
   5. (e) CPR.
   6. (f) Applying dressings and slings.
   7. (g) Treating strains, sprains, and fractures.
   8. (h) Immobilizing injured persons.
   9. (i) Handling and transporting injured persons.
   10. (j) Treating bites, stings, or contact with poisonous plants or animals.
