You must provide training to each employee for whom PPE is required by this section.

1. (1) Each employee whose work activities require the use of PPE must be trained to know at least the following:

   1. (a) When PPE is necessary;
   2. (b) What PPE is necessary;
   3. (c) How to properly put on, take off, adjust, and wear PPE;
   4. (d) The limitations of the PPE; and
   5. (e) The proper care, maintenance, useful life and disposal of the PPE.
2. (2) You must ensure that each affected employee demonstrates the ability to use PPE properly before being allowed to perform work where its use is required.

3. (3) You must retrain any employee who does not understand or display the skills required by subsection (2) of this section. Circumstances where retraining is required include, but are not limited to, situations where:

   1. (a) Changes in occupation or work make previous training obsolete; or
   2. (b) Changes in the types of PPE to be used make previous training obsolete; or
   3. (c) Inadequacies in an affected employee's knowledge or use of assigned PPE indicate that the employee has not retained the understanding or skill.

4. (4) You must verify that each affected employee has received the required training through a document that contains the following information:

   1. (a) Name of each employee trained;
   2. (b) Date(s) of training; and
   3. (c) Type of training the employee received.
