1. (1) An applicant for a peer support specialist trainee certificate shall submit to the department:

   1. (a) An application on forms provided by the department;

   2. (b) An attestation that the applicant self-identifies as:

      1. (i) Having one or more years in recovery from a mental health condition, substance use disorder, or both; or
      2. (ii) The parent or legal guardian of a youth who is receiving or has received behavioral health services;
   3. (c) Official certificate(s) of completion of a peer training course as outlined in WAC 246-929-130 or proof of acceptance into an approved apprenticeship program; and
   4. (d) An attestation the applicant is working to meet the supervised experience requirements under WAC 246-929-150.
2. (2) The peer support specialist trainee certification may only be renewed four times.
3. (3) There is no fee for certification as a peer support specialist trainee.
