1. (1) The board of osteopathic medicine and surgery, upon review of an application for licensure pursuant to RCW 18.57.130 or reinstatement of an inactive license, may require an applicant to pass a special purpose examination, e.g., SPEX, and/or any other examination deemed appropriate. An applicant may be required to take an examination when the board has concerns with the applicant's ability to practice competently for reasons which may include but are not limited to the following:

   1. (a) Resolved or pending malpractice suits;
   2. (b) Pending action by another state licensing authority;
   3. (c) Actions pertaining to privileges at any institution; or
   4. (d) Not having practiced for an interval of time.
2. (2) As a result of a determination in a disciplinary proceeding a licensee may be required to pass the SPEX examination.
3. (3) The minimum passing score on the SPEX examination shall be seventy-five. The passing score for any other examination under this rule shall be determined by the board.
