To be eligible for certification as a behavioral health support specialist, an applicant shall:

1. (1) Graduate from a bachelor's degree program.

2. (2) Successfully complete a BHSS educational program approved by the department, which must be included as part of a:

   1. (a) Bachelor degree program;
   2. (b) Post-baccalaureate continuing education program; or
   3. (c) Registered apprenticeship program.

3. (3) Successfully complete at least the following amount of instruction in a behavioral health curriculum:

   1. (a) Forty-five quarter college credits;
   2. (b) Thirty semester college credits; or
   3. (c) Four hundred fifty hours of apprenticeship related/supplemental instruction.
