A vacancy in the office of elected conservation district supervisor is filled by the conservation district board of supervisors after consultation with the conservation commission, for the remainder of the unexpired term, subject to the verification of supervisor qualifications by the conservation district and notification to the conservation commission. Due notice to the affected community shall be required.

1. (1) The application process shall require, at a minimum, that the board of supervisors pass a resolution:

   1. (a) Acknowledging that the office is vacant;
   2. (b) The dates of the four-week period for applicants to apply; and
   3. (c) Describing the minimum requirements of applicants.
2. (2) The resolution shall then be advertised to the public at least one week prior to the commencing of the four-week period, and in the same manner as the due notice of an election resolution.
