1. (1) You must provide a minimum of ten hours of training before approval of a home study that includes at least the following:

   1. (a) The rights and responsibilities of adoptive parents and the adoption agency;
   2. (b) The potential risks and challenges inherent in adoption;
   3. (c) The needs and characteristics of children available for adoption;
   4. (d) Attachment, separation and loss issues for children and families, including attachment disorders and other emotional problems that institutionalized or traumatized children may experience;
   5. (e) The importance of cultural and ethnic identity to the child and ways to foster these identities;
   6. (f) The long term implications for a family that has become multicultural through adoption; and
   7. (g) The effects of adoption on the child and family.

2. (2) Training to prepare the adoptive family for a particular child must also be provided. This training must include the child's:

   1. (a) Cultural, racial, religious, ethnic and linguistic background;
   2. (b) Medical, social, birth and developmental history; and
   3. (c) Educational data.
