Licensees:

1. (1) Licensed as SRHs for five or fewer children and youth must meet smoke detector regulations in WAC 110-148-1465;

2. (2) Licensed as GCFs, except SRHs for five or fewer children and youth, must:

   1. (a) Meet the state fire marshal regulations for smoke detectors and have operating smoke detectors with a strobe, that are:

      1. (i) Approved by UL or Factory Mutual;
      2. (ii) In compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act; and
      3. (iii) Installed and maintained according to the manufacturer's specifications;

   2. (b) Have smoke detectors located:

      1. (i) Both inside and outside of all sleeping areas;
      2. (ii) On each story of the facility;
      3. (iii) In all play areas; and
      4. (iv) In the basement; and
   3. (c) Test smoke detectors monthly or in the manner specified by the manufacturer; and
3. (3) Must have a written record on the premises of the date and time the smoke detector tests were completed.
