1. A. Prescription and nonprescription medications shall be given to a child:

   1. 1. According to the home's written medication policies; and
   2. 2. Only with written authorization from the parent.

2. B. The parent's written authorization for medication shall expire or be renewed after 10 working days.

   EXCEPTION: Long-term prescription and nonprescription drug use may be allowed with written authorization from the child's physician and parent.

3. C. When an authorization for medication expires, the parent shall be notified that the medication needs to be picked up within 14 days or the parent must renew the authorization. Medications that are not picked up by the parent within 14 days shall be taken to a pharmacy for proper disposal.
