1. A. The lead inspector course must last a minimum of 24 hours with a minimum of eight hours devoted to hands-on training. The training course must address the following topics:

   1. 1. Background information on lead.
   2. 2. Health effects of lead.
   3. 3. Background information on federal, state, and local regulations and guidance that pertains to lead-based paint activities, including distribution and thorough review of this chapter.
   4. 4. Roles and responsibilities of the lead-based paint inspector.
   5. 5. Lead-based paint inspection methods, including selection of rooms and components for sampling or testing.
   6. 6. Paint, dust, and soil sampling methodologies.
   7. 7. Preparation of the final inspection report.
   8. 8. Clearance standards and testing, including random sampling.
   9. 9. Recordkeeping.
   10. 10. Examination.
2. B. The topics in subdivisions A 5, A 6, A 7, and A 8 of this section must include hands-on training.
