- A. There is hereby created in the executive branch the Department of Workforce Development and Advancement. The Department shall be headed by the Commissioner of the Department of Workforce Development and Advancement who shall be appointed by the Governor, subject to confirmation by the General Assembly, to serve at the pleasure of the Governor.
- B. The Department is the federally designated and state-designated agency responsible for workforce development in the Commonwealth, including oversight, coordination, and strategic direction of all related initiatives and programs conferred to the Department to ensure cohesive policy implementation and integration across public and private sectors.
- C. The Commissioner may establish divisions within the Department and assign to such divisions any duties described in this chapter or otherwise imposed upon the Department.
