As used in this chapter:

1. (1) "Emancipation" or "emancipated" means a legal status created by court order that allows a minor to:

   1. (a) live independent of the minor's parents or guardian; and
   2. (b) exercise the same rights as an adult under Subsection 80-7-105(1).
2. (2) "Guardian" has the same meaning as in Section 75-1-201.
3. (3) "Minor" means an individual who is 16 years old or older.
