1. (1)

   1. (a) As used in this section, "relevant proceeding" means a civil proceeding under this chapter:

      1. (i) between the parents of a child;
      2. (ii) that involves the care or custody of the child; and
      3. (iii) that concerns a protective order under this chapter.

   2. (b) "Relevant proceeding" does not include:

      1. (i) any child protective, abuse, or neglect proceeding;
      2. (ii) a juvenile justice proceeding; or
      3. (iii) any child placement proceeding in which a state, local, or tribal government, a designee of such a government, or any contracted child welfare agency or child protective services agency of such a government is a party to the proceeding.
2. (2) In a relevant proceeding, the court shall comply with the standards described in Section 81-9-104.
