1. (1)

   1. (a) The court may appoint a physician, a psychologist, or a physician assistant to examine the respondent.
   2. (b) If the court appoints a physician. a psychologist, or a physician assistant under Subsection (1)(a), the physician, psychologist, or physician assistant shall submit a report in writing to the court.

2. (2) The court may appoint a court visitor to:

   1. (a) interview the individual seeking appointment as guardian of the respondent;
   2. (b) visit the present place of abode of the respondent and the place proposed where the respondent will be detained or reside if a guardian is appointed; or
   3. (c) conduct other investigations or observations as directed by the court.
