As used in this chapter:

1. (1) "Career service employee" means the same as that term is defined in Section 63A-17-102.

2. (2) "Executive branch elected official" means:

   1. (a) the governor;
   2. (b) the lieutenant governor;
   3. (c) the attorney general;
   4. (d) the state treasurer; or
   5. (e) the state auditor.

3. (3) "Executive branch official" means an individual who:

   1. (a) is a management level employee of an executive branch elected official; and
   2. (b) is not a career service employee.
4. (4) "State agency" means a department, division, board, council, committee, institution, office, bureau, or other similar administrative unit of the executive branch of state government.
