1. (1) Terms used in this rule are defined in Section 53-6-102.

2. (2) In addition:

   1. (a) "Annual statutory training" means the annual training requirement for peace officers and dispatchers as established in Sections 53-6-202 or 53-6-306;
   2. (b) "Applicant" means an individual who has applied to become a POST certified instructor;

   3. (c) "Basic training" means the basic training courses offered by the division or one of the satellite academies, which are required to become a:

      1. (i) special function officer;
      2. (ii) correctional officer;
      3. (iii) law enforcement officer; or
      4. (iv) dispatcher;
   4. (d) "DT" means defensive tactics;
   5. (e) "EVO" means emergency vehicle operation;
   6. (f) "IW" means impact weapon;
   7. (g) "In-service training" has the same meaning as annual statutory training;

   8. (h) "K9" means canine;

      1. (i) "POST certified instructor" means an individual who has completed the requirements set forth in this rule and is authorized by the division to conduct basic training courses;
   9. (j) "Satellite academy" means a certified academy or training program administered by a governmental entity or institution of higher education which is established primarily for the training of its employees or self-sponsored applicants; and
   10. (k) "Specialty instructor" means an individual who has completed the requirements set forth in this rule and is authorized by the division to conduct specific practical skill training courses.
