Driver Education Instructor Preparation Course Certification and Record Requirements

  1. (1) To become certified to provide a course, a school shall enter into a contract with the division to provide a course.
  2. (2) To qualify for certification to provide a course, a school shall:

    1. (a) be licensed and operational in accordance with Rule R708-2 for at least two years;
    2. (b) be violation free in accordance with Rule R708-2 for at least two years;
    3. (c) employ to instruct the course, a certified driver education instructor that:

      1. (i) has at least two years of experience instructing driver education; and
      2. (ii) is violation free in accordance with Rule R708-2 for at least two years.
  3. (3) A school certified to provide a course shall maintain a student instructor record for a period of four years for each student instructor enrolled in the course that includes:

    1. (a) the student instructor's name;
    2. (b) the date of enrollment;
    3. (c) the date of completion;
    4. (d) a record of each time the student instructor received training; and
    5. (e) a record of any training the student instructor provided to driver education students in connection with the course.
