1. (1)(a) A raptor that is non-native to the State of Utah or that is a hybrid of any kind may not be permanently released into the wild.

   1. (b) A raptor that is non-native to the State of Utah or that is a hybrid of any kind may be transferred to another falconry permittee authorized for possession.

2. (2)(a) A raptor that is native to the State of Utah and captive-bred may not be permanently released into the wild without prior authorization from the Division.

   1. (b) Once authorization for release of a captive-bred native raptor is received, the raptor must be hacked to the wild at an appropriate time of year and at an appropriate location.
   2. (c) The falconry or captive-bred band must be removed and release of the bird reported to the Division in accordance with Section R657-20-21.

3. (3)(a) If the species to be released is native to the State of Utah and was taken from the wild, the raptor may be released only at an appropriate time of year and at an appropriate location.

   1. (b) If the raptor is banded, the band must be removed and release of the bird reported to the Division in accordance with Section R657-20-21.
