1. (1) "HIV" means the Human Immunodeficiency Virus.

2. (2) "HIV infection" means HIV is present in an individual and was detected by:

   1. (a) the presence of HIV antibodies that are verified by an appropriate confirmatory test;
   2. (b) the presence of HIV antigen;
   3. (c) isolation of HIV; or
   4. (d) demonstration of HIV proviral DNA.
