1. (1) "Immediate Family" means relatives of the employee or spouse including in-laws, step-relatives, or equivalent relationship as follows:

   1. (a) spouse;
   2. (b) parents;
   3. (c) siblings;
   4. (d) children;
   5. (e) any level of grandparents; or
   6. (f) any level of grandchildren.
2. (2) Management may grant bereavement leave for other unique family relationships.
3. (3) Management may not charge bereavement leave against an employee's accrued leave balances.

Upon request from the employee, management shall grant at least three work days of bereavement leave per occurrence with pay following the death of a member of the employee's immediate family or when a pregnancy ends in miscarriage or stillbirth under the conditions set forth in Section 63A-17-106.
