(1)(a) The state registrar shall update the birth registration information for a child born in this state if the natural parents:
(i) submit a sworn acknowledgement of paternity;
- (ii) a certified copy of the marriage certificate; and
- (iii) pay the required fee.
- (b) If another person is shown as the parent of the child in the current birth registration, the state registrar may update the birth registration only when a determination of paternity is made by a court of competent jurisdiction or following adoption.
- (2) The acknowledgement of paternity may specify a name change for the child.
- (3) A supplementary birth certificate may be issued after the update to the birth registration.
