- (1) Flammable anesthetic agents or chemicals may not be used unless the building is properly constructed for its use.
(2) For gas usage in a facility, the licensee shall ensure:
- (a) compressed gasses and flammable liquids are stored safely and any compressed gas cylinders in storage are capped and secured;
- (b) oxidizing agents may not be stored with flammables;
- (c) oxygen and flammable agents are stored away from combustibles;
- (d) liquid flammable agents are stored in metal cabinets with no more than ten gallons of any one flammable liquid or 60 gallons total of flammable liquids stored per cabinet;
- (e) warning signs are posted when compressed gasses or flammable liquids are used;
- (f) equipment is available to extinguish liquid oxygen and enriched gasses; and
- (g) employees are trained in the proper use of equipment and containment of combustions.
(3) When using oxygen, the licensee shall ensure provision is made for the following:
- (a) safe handling and storage; and
- (b) facility personnel may not transfer gas from one cylinder to another.
(4) The licensee shall test the piped oxygen system and file a written report as follows:
- (a) upon completion of initial installation;
- (b) when changes are made to the system;
- (c) when the integrity of the system has been breached; and
- (d) ensure there is a scavenging system for evacuation of anesthetic waste gas.
