- (1) The licensee shall provide housekeeping services to maintain a clean, sanitary, and healthy environment. If the licensee contracts for housekeeping services with an outside agency, the licensee shall ensure there is a signed, dated agreement that details any services provided and the housekeeping service meets each requirement of this section.
- (2) The licensee shall ensure written housekeeping policies and procedures are developed and implemented, and reviewed and updated annually.
- (3) The licensee shall ensure enough housekeeping staff are employed or contracted with to maintain both the exterior and interior of the facility in a safe, clean, orderly manner.
(4) The licensee shall ensure:
- (a) housekeeping equipment is suitable for institutional use and properly maintained;
- (b) cleaning solutions for floors are prepared according to manufacturer's instructions and be checked periodically to ensure proper germicidal concentrations are maintained;
- (c) there is enough noncombustible trash containers and lids are provided where appropriate;
- (d) storage areas containing cleaning agents, bleaches, insecticides, or poisonous, dangerous, or flammable materials, are safeguarded.
- (e) toilet rooms are not used for storage; and
- (f) throw or scatter rugs are not used in the main traffic areas of the facility or in exit ways.
