(1) Extended recovery care services provided by a licensee shall not exceed 24 hours. The licensee shall ensure the following:
- (a) services are provided to no more than three patients anywhere in the facility between the hours of 10pm and 6 am;
- (b) extended recovery care services are integrated with other departments and services of the facility;
- (c) extended recovery care services have policies and procedures that describe the nature and extent of the extended recovery services provided, that are consistent with ambulatory surgery and anesthesia services; and
- (d) a minimum of two health care workers, including one that is a registered nurse with Advanced Cardiac Life Support certification, is on duty when patients are in the extended recovery care unit.
(5) In addition to the items required in a patient's medical record under Section R432-500-22, the physician shall document the following:
- (a) the reason or need for a patient's admission to the extended recovery service; and
- (b) dietary orders to meet the nutritional needs of the patient.
(6) The licensee shall obtain a Food Service Establishment Permit, if required by the local health department.
- (a) The licensee shall ensure inspection reports by the local health department are maintained at the facility for review by the department.
- (b) Any personnel that prepare or serve food shall observe personal hygiene and sanitation practices to protect food from contamination.
