1. (1) This rule is authorized by:

   1. (a) Utah Constitution Article X, Section 3, which vests general control and supervision over public education in the Board;
   2. (b) Subsection 53E-3-401(4), which allows the Board to make rules to execute the Board's duties and responsibilities under the Utah Constitution and state law; and
   3. (c) Section 53G-9-802, which requires the Board to develop rules to set policies related to a dropout prevention and recovery services.

2. (2) The purpose of this rule is to:

   1. (a) develop policies related to an LEA's dropout prevention and recovery services; and
   2. (b) set reporting requirements for LEAs with a dropout prevention and recovery services.
3. (3) This Rule R277-606 is categorized as Category 2 as described in Rule R277-111.
