   1. (a) history of esthetics; and
   2. (b) an overview of the curriculum;

2. (2) personal, client, and salon safety including:

   1. (a) aseptic techniques and sanitary procedures;
   2. (b) disinfection and sterilization methods and procedures; and
   3. (c) health risks to the basic esthetician;

3. (3) business and salon management including:

   1. (a) developing a clientele;
   2. (b) professional image;
   3. (c) professional ethics;
   4. (d) professional associations;
   5. (e) public relations; and
   6. (f) advertising.

4. (4) legal issues including:

   1. (a) malpractice liability;
   2. (b) regulatory agencies; and
   3. (c) tax laws;
5. (5) human immune system;

6. (6) diseases and disorders of the skin including:

   1. (a) bacteriology;
   2. (b) sanitation;
   3. (c) sterilization;
   4. (d) decontamination; and
   5. (e) infection control;

7. (7) implements, tools, and equipment for basic esthetics including;

   1. (a) high-frequency or galvanic current; and
   2. (b) heat lamps;
8. (8) first aid;
9. (9) anatomy;
10. (10) science of basic esthetics;
11. (11) analysis of the skin;
12. (12) physiology of the skin;
13. (13) facials, manual and mechanical;

14. (14) limited chemical exfoliation including:

    1. (a) pre-exfoliation consultation;
    2. (b) post-exfoliation treatments; and
    3. (c) chemical reactions;
15. (15) chemistry for basic esthetics;
16. (16) temporary removal of superfluous hair by waxing;
17. (17) treatment of the skin;
18. (18) packs and masks;
19. (19) aroma therapy;

20. (20) application of makeup including:

    1. (a) application of artificial eyelashes;
    2. (b) arching of the eyebrows; and
    3. (c) tinting of the eyelashes and eyebrows;
21. (21) medical devices;
22. (22) cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR);
23. (23) basic facials;
24. (24) chemistry of cosmetics;
25. (25) skin treatments, manual and mechanical;
26. (26) massage of the face and neck;
27. (27) natural nail manicures and pedicures;
28. (28) elective topics; and
29. (29) Esthetic Examination review.

Under Subsection 58-11a-302(13)(c)(iv), the curriculum for an esthetics school basic esthetician program shall consist of 600 hours of instruction in the following subject areas:
