(a) The state bicycle coordinator will:
- (1) coordinate the consideration and integration of bicycling into the development or revision of regular, routine operating policies, plans and programs of the department;
- (2) identify the needs and concerns of bicyclists by operating as a central contact for bicyclists;
- (3) represent the department on bicycle issues at the state and national level to the Federal Highway Administration, the U.S. Department of Transportation, and other states;
- (4) receive and respond to letters, telephone calls, requests, inquiries, and visits from people concerning a wide variety of bicycle related issues; and
- (5) act as the department liaison with the Bicycle Advisory Committee.
(b) The district bicycle coordinators will:
- (1) coordinate the consideration and integration of bicycling into the development or revision of regular, routine operating policies, plans and programs of the department at the district level;
- (2) identify the needs and concerns of bicyclists by operating as a central contact for the district;
- (3) receive and respond to letters, telephone calls, requests, inquiries, and visits from people within the district concerning a wide variety of bicycle related issues;
- (4) record comments, concerns, and needs related to bicycling, and convey this information to the district staff for planning purposes;
- (5) speak to bicycle groups concerning bicycle related issues upon request;
- (6) coordinate the training of the district's design section in bicycle accommodation; and
- (7) coordinate with and keep the state bicycle coordinator informed about bicycle activity in the district.
