Cosigner Requirements

(a) To be eligible to be cosigner for an otherwise eligible student, a person must:
1. (1) be at least 21 years of age;
2. (2) be a United States citizen, or a permanent U.S. resident;
3. (3) reside in the United States or a U.S. territory;
4. (4) have a regular source of income; and
5. (5) receive a favorable credit report evaluation, as defined in §24.1 of this chapter (relating to Definitions).
(b) A spouse may not act as the cosigner for the student.
