1. (a) This section applies to a military service member, a military veteran, and a military spouse, as defined under §60.501.

2. (b) On receipt by the department of an application for a license, or for recognition of an out-of-state license, the department shall promptly issue a provisional license to the applicant or issue the license or recognition for which the applicant applied. A provisional license issued under this subsection expires on the earlier of:

   1. (1) the date the department approves or denies the provisional license holder's application for the license or for recognition of a license; or
   2. (2) the 180th day after the date the provisional license is issued.
