1. (a) LHR Apprentice-In-Training Certification Requirements. An applicant for an LHR apprentice-in-training certification must:

   1. (1) be at least 18 years of age.

   2. (2) have at least 24 hours of training in:

      1. (A) LHR device safety;
      2. (B) laser physics;
      3. (C) skin typing;
      4. (D) skin reactions;
      5. (E) treatment protocols;
      6. (F) burns;
      7. (G) eye protection;
      8. (H) emergencies; and
      9. (I) post-treatment protocols.

   3. (3) have an additional 16 hours of training in:

      1. (A) cardio-pulmonary resuscitation (a valid cardio-pulmonary resuscitation certificate may be used to satisfy up to eight hours of the training required by this subparagraph);
      2. (B) review of client's pre-existing conditions to determine if consultation with a consulting physician is needed for possible diagnosis or treatment;
      3. (C) review of client's previous LHR procedures by another modality;
      4. (D) review of client's current medications to determine if any medications need to be brought to the attention of the consulting physician based on established protocols;
      5. (E) proper signage and posting;
      6. (F) use of an LHR device; and
      7. (G) anesthesia used in conjunction with LHR procedures.
2. (b) LHR Apprentice-In-Training Certification Submission Requirement. An applicant for an LHR apprentice-in-training certification must submit proof of successful completion of a training program approved by the department covering the topics listed in §118.26(a)(2). An individual must not perform LHR procedures unless under the direct supervision of a senior LHR technician or an LHR professional.
