1. (a) The board of directors of the corporation is composed of the following 12 members appointed by the governor:

   1. (1) six representatives of the general public;
   2. (2) one representative of the gas industry;
   3. (3) one representative of the telecommunications industry;
   4. (4) one representative of the electric industry;
   5. (5) one representative of cable television companies;
   6. (6) one representative of municipalities; and
   7. (7) one representative of persons who engage in excavation operations who are not also facility operators.
2. (b) Board membership is voluntary and a director is not entitled to receive compensation for serving on the board.
