1. (a) The governing body of a unit of election may order an election to withdraw the unit of election from an authority.
2. (b) On the determination by a governing body of a unit of election that a petition for withdrawal under this subchapter is valid, the governing body shall order an election to withdraw the unit of election from the authority.
3. (c) An election to withdraw may not be ordered, and a petition for an election to withdraw may not be accepted for filing, on or before the fifth anniversary after the date of a previous election in the unit to withdraw from the authority.
4. (d) An attempt by a unit of election to withdraw from an authority in a manner other than as provided by this subchapter is void.
