1. (a) The board shall require a county, municipal, or other public hospital located outside the district to reimburse the district for the district's care and treatment of a patient of that hospital as provided by Chapter 61, Health and Safety Code.

2. (b) The board shall require the sheriff of Maverick County or the police chief of a municipality in the district to reimburse the district for the district's care and treatment of a person who is confined in a jail facility of the county or municipality and is not a resident of the district.
