Sec. 1070.053. DIRECTORS' ELECTION

1. (a) If a majority of the votes in an election under Section 1070.052 favor electing the directors, an election shall be held on the uniform election date in May of each year.
2. (b) The order calling a directors' election must specify the time, place, and purpose of the election.

3. (c) A person who wants to have the person's name printed on the ballot as a candidate for director must file with the board secretary a petition requesting that action. The petition must be:

   1. (1) signed by at least 50 registered voters; and
   2. (2) filed at least 25 days before the date of the election.
4. (d) At least five days before the date of an election of directors, notice of the election shall be published one time in a newspaper of general circulation in the district.
5. (e) Unless four-year terms are established under Section 285.081, Health and Safety Code, elected directors serve staggered two-year terms.
