1. (a) A person may not perform or offer or attempt to perform any act of barbering or cosmetology unless the person holds a license or permit issued under this subchapter to perform that act.

2. (b) Unless the person holds an appropriate license issued under this subchapter, a person may not directly or indirectly use or cause to be used as a professional or business identification, title, name, representation, asset, or means of advantage or benefit:

   1. (1) the term "barber" or "barbering";
   2. (2) the term "cosmetologist" or "cosmetology"; or
   3. (3) any combination, variation, or abbreviation of the terms listed in Subdivisions (1) and (2).
