1. (a) A manufacturer, distributor, or representative may not require a franchised dealer to compensate the manufacturer or distributor for any court costs, attorney's fees, or other expenses incurred in an administrative or civil proceeding arising under this chapter.
2. (b) This section does not prohibit a manufacturer and a franchised dealer from entering into an agreement to share costs in a proceeding in which the dealer and manufacturer have the same or similar interests.
