- (a) Notwithstanding any other provision of this subchapter, the board of trustees and a person who has standing to pursue an administrative appeal under this subchapter may at any time informally negotiate an award of benefits.
- (b) Negotiated benefits may not exceed the maximum benefits otherwise available or required by law.
