1. (a) Chapters 1365 and 1368 and Subchapters A and C, Chapter 1451, apply to:

   1. (1) a certificate of insurance issued to a resident of this state under a group accident and health insurance policy delivered, issued for delivery, or renewed outside this state; or
   2. (2) a certificate issued to a resident of this state under a policy delivered, issued for delivery, or renewed outside this state by a group hospital service corporation.
2. (b) Subsection (a) does not apply to a specified disease or limited benefit policy.
