(a) Except as otherwise provided by law, domestic and foreign mutual insurance companies organized or operating under this chapter are subject to the laws applicable to:
- (1) a stock insurance company engaging in the same kind of insurance;
- (2) investments;
- (3) valued policies;
- (4) policy forms and rates;
- (5) reciprocal or retaliatory laws;
- (6) insolvency and liquidation; and
- (7) publication and defamatory statements.
- (b) This chapter does not exempt a domestic mutual insurance company from being subject to other laws of this state governing the incorporation, organization, regulation, and operation of a company or organization writing insurance in this state.
