In this chapter:

1. (1) "Alien or foreign insurer" means an insurance company organized under the laws of:

   1. (A) a country other than the United States; or
   2. (B) a state of the United States other than this state.

2. (2) "Resident" includes a domestic, alien, or foreign:

   1. (A) corporation;
   2. (B) partnership; or
   3. (C) person.
