1. (a) Before the 16th day of each month, each participating subdivision shall pay or cause to be paid to the retirement system at the system's office:

   1. (1) the member contributions, or "picked-up" member contributions, provided for by Sections 845.402 and 845.403, which shall be deposited to the individual accounts of the members; and
   2. (2) the contributions that a subdivision is required to make under this subtitle, which shall be deposited to the account of the subdivision in the subdivision accumulation fund.

2. (b) Unless otherwise provided for and paid by a subdivision, a subdivision shall pay its contributions to the retirement system from:

   1. (1) the fund from which compensation is paid to members; or
   2. (2) the general fund of the subdivision.
