The board shall place on or remove from a teacher's certificate the appropriate designation issued to the teacher under Section 21.3521:

1. (1) after being notified by the agency of the issuance or removal of the designation; or
2. (2) if the board determines that removal of the designation is necessary because of action taken against the teacher's certificate.
