Pursuant to T.C.A. § 63-13-502, the Occupational Therapy Licensure Compact (the Compact) was enacted to facilitate interstate practice of occupational therapy with the goal of improving public access to occupational therapy services. The practice of occupational therapy occurs in the state where the patient/client is located at the time of the patient/client encounter. The Compact preserves the regulatory authority of states to protect public health and safety through the current system of state licensure. The Compact Rules shall have the force of law in each Member State. A licensee providing occupational therapy in a remote state under the Compact privilege shall function within the laws and regulations of the remote state. Any laws in a member state that conflict with the Compact are superseded to the extent of the conflict.
