- (1) A licensed practitioner may renew the original order, including a verbal order, if a service recipient continues to need isolation, mechanical restraint, or physical holding restraint beyond the time limit of the original order. Renewals must comply with 0940-03-09-.07 and 0940-03-09-.08. Under no circumstance may isolation, mechanical restraint, or physical holding restraint exceed twenty-four (24) continuous hours.
- (2) Isolation, mechanical restraint, and physical holding restraint may not be ordered on a PRN basis or as a standing order. Mechanical restraint or physical holding restraint may not be used simultaneously with isolation.
