Cultural areas contain archaeological, historical, and environmental features which are desirable for protection, interpretation, and educational enjoyment. Because of an area’s past association with significant people and events of Tennessee, or its contribution to the appreciation and knowledge of the state’s archaeological heritage, these areas will be acquired and exhibited as components of the overall Tennessee Outdoor Recreational Area System (TORAS).
