- (1) The provisions of this chapter shall apply to all professional kickboxing and mixed martial art contests held or scheduled to be held in the state of Tennessee and shall take precedent over any other rules, including but not limited to rules of any sanctioning organization, that are in any way directly or indirectly in conflict with any provision set forth in this chapter, unless the Commission modifies or waives such provision.
(2) The Commission may modify or waive any provision hereunder:
- (a) In cases of undue hardship, demonstrable impracticality, or necessity;
- (b) For the purpose of allowing a bout to be sanctioned by a recognized association, council, or organization; or
- (c) To accept an alternative rule set, in whole or in part, for a professional kickboxing or mixed martial arts contest or event. Any alternative rule set must be approved by the Commission prior to the scheduled contest or event. The Commission may revoke the approval of the alternative rule set if the Commission later determines the alternative rule set poses a risk to the health, safety, or welfare of the individuals participating in the contest or event.
