Any other type of release detection method, or combination of methods, may be used if it has been approved by the department. The department may approve the method if the owner or operator demonstrates that the method is capable of detecting a release before it migrates beyond the excavation area as well as any of the methods allowed in §§ 74:56:01:26 to 74:56:01:32, inclusive. If approved, the department may impose any conditions on the use of the methods that are necessary to protect human health and environment.
